Important information

Hello All,

Just wanted to remind you all of a few things….

Everyone:

  • The Photographer Recognition slide test will be this Thursday (next class).  You need to be familiar with the work of each master photographer.  As an alternative to the test you may put together a presentation, powerpoint, or slideshow.  Included in your presentation you must include:
    • 3 images from each photographer; name, date of images, titles.  You must also also include three additional characteristics/facts/or comments about each photographer.  Those facts may include genre of photography, biographical information, criticism of their work, etc.  You will be scored on your the aesthetics of your presentation, the flow, the effort and the accuracy you demonstrate. Have fun, feel free to get creative 🙂 Presentations must be uploaded to DropBox BEFORE class on Thursday; that will serve as your pass for the test.
  • Next class we will continuing with our exploration of food photography.  I would like for everyone to research and familiarize yourself with at least 5 different food photography references.  On Thursday we will be photographing fruit and cheese.  Don’t forget to bring in props.  In your research I would like you to pay particular attention to how each shot is stylized; what accessories, plate ware, and props are they using?  In addition to your food item you will be contributing, I would like for everyone to bring in at least 3 additional items that could be used to stylize the shots.
  • On Thursday (next class) you will be divided into two groups, you all will work together to produce a successful composition, variety in perspective, and stylizing your shoot.  Ty, Maria, Molly, and Noelia, you will be in one group.  Sebastian, Mikayla, Seal, and Valentina, you will be in another group. I would suggest communicating with your group ahead of time as to the theme of your items and stylization 🙂
  • Your food photography images from today and Thursday will be due by the end of the day on Friday.  From today’s shoot, I am looking for you to turn in your best three shots to DropBox.  The three shots will include one shot of the ingredients, one shot of the sandwich, and one shot of the cake. From Thursday’s shoot I will be looking for your most successful three images.

Seniors:

  • Grades close for you this Friday; everything needs to be turned in.
  • Be sure you all have your Thematic Series images 10, 11, and 12 uploaded to DropBox
  • Written Criticisms on your peer’s Thematic Series should have been turned in last week.

Request for Photographers….

Good Morning!

We need 3 photographers to photograph and videotape the music concert on Thursday, May 21st.  It’s an A day.  Students will be leaving MAC at 2pm with the music students and Mr. Djuric will make sure you are all well fed.

Please let me know if you are interested, I would like to let him know who the photographers are by the end of this week.

Thanks and don’t forget you should be documenting your volunteer hours.

AP Students: we are in the final stretch, we’ve got about 2 weeks left.  Stay focused and motivated.  I would like to see ALL your progress so far in class tomorrow; bring in EVERYTHING.  On Thursday I would like to see ALL your Breadth.  Bring in all the potential pieces for your Breadth, we will be doing an in depth analysis.  Photography pieces should be printed out , in color, on regular sheets of paper, prepared to begin discussion as soon as class starts Thursday.  All other media pieces should be brought in.  Tomorrow we will set up our AP accounts on line, the actual test will be on Friday, May 8 🙂

Seniors, you should all be working on a written criticism on a peer’s thematic body of work.

MAC@BAC Photography Assignment

Hello All,

I hope you are all looking forward to the MAC@BAC exhibit tomorrow!  As we discussed in class, there will be an assignment attached to your attendance of the show.  Each student is required to participate in documenting our show; essentially you have been hired as Event Photographers.  You must get the images to your client (me, via DropBox) by the end of day on Tuesday, April 7th.  Your goal will be to capture the event in 10-25 photographs.  The 10 required shots include (in no specific order):

Shot 1 – If you have a piece(s) in the show, get a photograph taken of you in front of your artwork.

Shots 2, 3, and 4 – Photograph at least 3 other artists in front of their work (the goal is get everyone photographed).

Shots 5 through 10 – At least 3 photos of the general atmosphere, music, and space. The audience looking at the work and/or candid portraits.

Good luck! Use this as a safe place to practice your skills.  I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow night!  🙂

Also, just a sweet reminder that donations of soda, juice, and wine are still being accepted tomorrow morning in Perdomo’s room; and don’t forget to buy your tickets on-line in order to avoid the line. 🙂

dheya campbell

Dheya originally is a small town type a gal. With her move in 2015 her life has taken on a new challenge at Miami Arts Charter! Where students have been tasked to do the 365 self portrait challenge. She is inspired by her families flaws, and motivates her to put her all into her photos. She likes to convey raw feeling and emotion in her photos. She is more oganic and is in love with b&w photos along with silent films. Have a ball keeping up with her.
